Bristol City Council release short film documenting Bristol workers' responses to COVID

Find out how Bristolians are responding to the coronavirus crisis in the latest #WeAreBristol film.

 

Bristol City Council have released the latest film in the #WeAreBristol series, a collection of short documentaries illustrating the community spirit and collective strength of the city's population.

 

Released today (Thursday 15 October), Working Together shines a light on Bristol workers, exploring the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic and offering hope as the city starts to recover.

 

From bus drivers to care home staff, business owners and other workers across Bristol, the film uses sound bites to illustrate how people have been affected by the crisis and, crucially, how they're coming together to pick up the pieces.

 

 

#WeAreBristol was launched in 2019 with a social experiment bringing 60 strangers together to illustrate the broad similarities between people from a wide range of backgrounds.

 

The project has since expanded to include more than 80 members of the Bristol public in a variety of short films, and has now taken on even greater meaning and significance amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

 

This year, the #WeAreBristol team set up a helpline in response to the initial coronavirus outbreak, assisting people who had been advised to shield or self-isolate in accessing provisions like food and medicine.

 

Working Together, unveiled yesterday as part of Mayor Marvin Rees' annual State of the City address, aims to convey a sense of optimism and outline the importance of community spirit as we face the challenge of economic and social recovery.
