The Lanes announces programme of socially distanced gigs

Posted on: 17 Aug 2020

It's one of the first venues in Bristol to welcome back live music.

Over the weekend, indoor theatres, music and performance venues with socially distanced audiences got the green light to reopen.

And some Bristol venues are wasting no time in doing so.

While Bristol Old Vic is set to release a new programme of performances later today, The Lanes has confirmed one of its first socially distanced gig will take place tonight.

This evening, singer-songwriter Kate Stapley will headline a seated gig at the Nelson Street bowling alley and music venue, supported by Josie Blakelock.

The gig has already sold out, but don't worry! Kate's is the first of a few socially distant concerts The Lanes has scheduled.

How will socially distanced gigs at The Lanes work?

Every performance coming up at The Lanes will be seated, and there is a limited number of tables available for each event.

Tables are available to purchase in groups of four and six.

On arrival, attendees will be asked to show their e-ticket and allocated a table.

The venue will be operating contactless table service only.

So, to get a pizza or a pint, attendees will need to scan a QR code available on their table using a camera phone and place an order online.

What's coming up?

Didn't manage to get a ticket for tonight's performance? Not to worry – trippy dream-pop duo Robbie & Mona are performing on Wednesday (19 August).

Robbie & Mona is made up of William Carkeet and Ellie Gray, both of whom are members of Pet Shimmers – the BBC 6 Music-praised Bristol seven-piece.

On Wednesday 2 September, a member of local experimental pop outfit Snails is performing alongside lo-fi alt-folk project Static Queen.

And on Tuesday 8 September, acclaimed crossover jazz duo Run Logan Run will perform live, followed by a DJ set from Noods Radio resident and selector The Grey Area.
