Unveiling the bar on social media, a spokesperson explained: “We have created a clean and safe drinking area for you to enjoy a pint with us at your favourite Bristol venue.
“We’ve taken all measures possible to ensure we can open in some form, with safety as our top priority.
“Plus! Our resident DJ’s have compiled some Thekla playlists for us too, setting the mood for whatever time of the day you join us."
Seating areas for the new Dockside Bar are located along the harbour and on Thekla’s smoking deck.
A new seating area will be directly outside the ship, with the smoking deck acting as a secondary seating area.
The Thekla team have been busy in lockdown.
They released a new podcast, Isolation Discs, which saw in-depth conversations with musicians including Dev of IDLES.
Ahead of its opening on Friday 31 July, Thekla’s Dockside Bar is now taking bookings for groups of up to six people.
At the moment, you can book a table at the Dockside Bar for 2.5 hours here. Advance bookings require a £20 per table bar deposit for customers to spend onboard.
Although walk-ins are welcome at selected times, Thekla advises booking online to guarantee a table.
To keep staff and customers safe, Thekla has released detailed information on its website about the social distancing measures the new bar will implement.
Measures include a full table service, a new ordering app and a strict one-way system. All staff will wear face masks or shields.
Take a look at the full list of measures here, on the Dockside Bar FAQ page. For more information visit www.theklabristol.co.uk/dockside.
