Live Nation cancels Utilita Live From The Drive-In concert series

Posted on: 16 Jul 2020

The series of open-air concerts were due to start in Bristol at the end of the month.

A series of drive-in concerts due to bring The Streets, Dizzee Rascal and more to Bristol has been cancelled.

Utilita Live From The Drive-In was set to tour the UK this summer, stopping off in 12 locations across the country, including the former Airfield in Filton.

In Filton, the series was due to run from the end of July until the end of September, with up to six live events per week.

However, event promoters Live Nation announced yesterday that Utilita Live From The Drive-In has been cancelled due to “the latest developments regarding localised lockdowns.”

A spokesperson from Live Nation said: “The Live From The Drive In concert series will no longer proceed as planned this summer.

“We received huge support from artists, the live music production contractors, our headline sponsor Utilita along with our other partners, and of course you, the fans.

“However the latest developments regarding localised lockdowns mean it has become impossible for us to continue with the series with any confidence.

“We thank everyone for their support and eagerly await a time when we can watch live music together again.

“Full refunds will be issued directly to all ticket holders within the next 7 days."

The drive-in concert series was set to host socially-distanced events with full concert production, with private viewing zones next to each car.

Alongside gigs, the series was set to welcome West End theatre and a range of family shows.

Event sponsors Utilia said: “Utilita Live From The Drive-In series will no longer take place in the summer of 2020.

"We had worked tirelessly on exciting plans for what was promising to be a fantastic couple of months of entertainment across the UK.

“However, we fully understand and support the necessary decision to cancel due to concerns over localised lockdowns. We look forward to the time music brings us all together again.”
