Last chance to enrol young people in online music lessons with Bristol Plays Music

Posted on: 05 Jun 2020

Today (Friday 5 June) is the last chance to enrol in Bristol Plays Music’s Virtual Academy for young person music lessons.

In April, Colston Hall and Bristol Plays Music teamed up to establish an innovative music education programme for young people.

The Bristol Plays Music Virtual Academy has been established to bring virtual music lessons to young people in Bristol.

In the last month, the team delivered over 600 online music lessons to 208 young people in Bristol through the Academy.

The programme also offers free bursary places available for children of key workers and those financially impacted by COVID-19.

Today (Friday 5 June) is the final day to enrol with the Academy's current series of lessons. To register, or to find out more, click here.

The Virtual Academy is offering music lessons on most instruments for children and young people in Bristol postcodes aged 7 to 18, and will be open to students of all abilities (excluding absolute beginners).

Bookable in blocks of 10 sessions, the scheme is an effective, short-term alternative to in-person teaching.

The Virtual Academy is also available at a subsidised cost for children of key workers, children in care and children of families financially affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Lessons will be 20 or 30 minutes long and delivered individually via Microsoft Teams.

The organisers recommend a 20-minute lesson for primary school-age children and 30 minutes for secondary pupils, with the lessons held between 09:00 and 17:00, Monday to Saturday.

If your child has always wanted to have a go on the guitar, try out the trumpet or play the piano, what better time to do so than in a lockdown?
