The Gallimaufry's live music programme returns (sort of)

Posted on: 06 May 2020

The Gloucester Road bar are live streaming performances from some of their most popular resident musicians throughout this week.

We're now into week six (?) of lockdown in the UK, which means we've gone a full six weeks without pubs, bars, theatre, live sport and live music.

The latter has left a huge hole in many people's lives, from hard-working local artists who have lost their livelihoods to venue owners now facing uncertain futures and music lovers not knowing when they'll be able to get to their next gig.

Eager to limit the impact of the Coronavirus crisis and put smiles back on Bristol faces, The Gallimaufry have resumed their regular musical programming this week, live streaming a selection of resident artists and bands through their Facebook page.

After violinist Mike Dennis kicked things off live from his bedroom on Monday night and psychedelic multi-instrumentalist Lewis Creaven took the reigns on Tuesday, there are five stellar acts still to come.

Tonight (Wednesday 6 May) will see the esteemed Waldo's Gift trio perform a "100% improvised, 100% isolated" set from home at 21:00. We'll have our fingers crossed their wifi connections hold out, but if previous live-streamed sets are anything to go by, viewers are in for a real treat.

From there, expect futuristic vibrations courtesy of experimental outfit Astral Tusk on Thursday night, before renowned DJ Manami takes over for the return of her Feel Flows residency on Friday.

Satta Lites, usually made up of Withdrawn, VMO$ of Young Echo and Windows 97, are locked in for a Saturday night DJ set, represented solely by Withdrawn this time around in an admirable display of self-isolation.

Sydney and The Pandemics will close this week's programme at The Gallimaufry on Sunday, rounding off a much-needed dose of live music courtesy of the team behind one of our favourite Bristol venues.
