Want to support Bristol's independent retailers and producers during these uncertain times? It has never been easier.

Thanks to a group of local volunteers (Ed, Matisse, John, Dan and Ken), Bristol now has access to a handy interactive map which highlights the independent retailers and producers offering a local delivery service amid lockdown.

Founded just over two weeks ago, the map now features over 150 of Bristol's independent retailers and producers, covering businesses right across the city.

Featuring a vast range of vendors, from restaurants and delis to home and garden shops, the map also comes loaded with information specific to each retailer.

On the map, you'll find information such as a retailers' website address, contact details, and delivery information specific to their business.

The map operates via Google Maps and is a volunteer-led, non-profit resource aimed at supporting Bristol’s independent retailers and producers who can deliver to the local area.

One of the volunteers behind the project, Ed, spoke with 365Bristol.com.

“Talking to local businesses, I’m really feeling the love and support coming from the community,” Ed said, reflecting on the past two weeks.

“There are so many people on both sides volunteering their support. It's this kind of response that keeps us going and gives us hope that we will get through this."

Ed, one of the founders of Venn Festival [2003-2008] which took over many independent venues in the city, emphasised the importance of supporting local retailers and producers amid the coronavirus lockdown.

“The independent nature of Bristol adds so much to the unique character of our city - that has got to be protected.”

“We need hope,” Ed added. “Supporting vulnerable people and local business promotes the kind of solidarity and community spirit that is absolutely vital right now.”

The map is updated often, and users are encouraged to send updates or amendments to the team's dedicated email: bristolindependentdeliveries@gmail.com
