Bristol’s final charity Rainbow Run: what you need to know

Posted on: 30 Jan 2020

A charity fun run combining all the colours of the rainbow: 2020 marks the final Rainbow Run.

For the past seven years, Children’s Hospice South West has hosted one of the city’s most vibrant charitable events: the Rainbow Run.

An exciting 5K fun run in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, the Rainbow Run has seen thousands of people walk, jog and run the course since its inception in 2013.

And last year, more than 1,000 people took part, raising £47,000 for local children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

But all good things must come to an end: 2020 marks the last-ever Rainbow Run. Here’s what you need to know.

Rainbow Run

As always, the final Rainbow Run will raise money for Children’s Hospice South West’s local hospice, Charlton Farm in Wraxall.

Charlton Farm offers local families respite breaks and the chance to make the most of their precious time together.

This time, the Rainbow Run is taking place Saturday 6 June at North Somerset Showground. The 5K course is suited to all abilities, open to ages five and over.

Before the day, call on friends and family to drum up some sponsorship. Then, on the day, reward yourself with face painters, entertainment, refreshments and buy some colourful rainbow merchandise to light up the race course.

Registration is now open, with a 25% discount available to those who sign up early.

At the moment, you can grab an Adult ticket for £15 and Child tickets for just £9. Head to the website to get yours.

Rainbow Run

Though this year’s Rainbow Run will be the charity’s last in the area, Event Fundraiser Mandy Ley-Morgan says the event will be ‘going out with a bang’ with a big festival finale.

“We’ll certainly be going out on a high,” said Mandy.

“Rainbow Run has enjoyed seven fantastic years in Bristol since CHSW brought the concept to the UK.

“We constantly review our events to keep them fresh and exciting and will be offering new events to our supporters for 2021 onwards.”

A vital local charity, Children’s Hospice South West has been running for over 25 years and is dedicated to providing the best possible hospice care for life-limited children and their families.
