A whole new decade is officially upon us, but it's business as usual for Bristol's biggest and best club venues as they prepare to host another range of top-notch parties in January.
Find a full rundown of our picks for the month below, including Bruce's second Get Loose Party, the first Semi Peppered event of 2020 and Beat Horizon's huge multi-genre lineup featuring Goldie, Talib Kweli and Roni Size.
A Night of J Dilla @ The Lanes | Saturday 11 January
Pretty self-explanatory, this one. Get down to The Lanes on Saturday 11 January for a night dedicated to J Dilla, one of the most celebrated hip-hop producers of all time and an integral part of the genre's golden generation.
As well as tracks from the seminal Detroit artist, expect music from a wide range of game-changing MCs including KRS-One, Big L, Nas and more.
Continuous Movement w/Max Abysmal @ The Exchange | Friday 17 January
Noods residents and Bristol-based party starters Continuous Movement are kicking their 2020 off in style this month, inviting none other than Sydney-born DJ Max Abysmal to top a stellar lineup at The Exchange.
Expect early techno, electro, jungle and more with a signature twist as the Red Light Radio and Dekmantel Festival regular returns to Bristol after a busy year in 2019.
Utopia w/Laurence Guy, O'Flynn + more @ Lakota | Saturday 18 January
After a string of well-received parties in 2019 that brought Folamour, Crazy P and more to Bristol, Utopia are back this month with another enticing lineup at Lakota.
Prolific DJ and producer Laurence Guy tops a lineup that also features revered DJ O'Flynn and one of the UK's most versatile electronic artists in Theo Kottis.
Beat Horizon @ Motion | Friday 24 January
Motion are hosting one of three huge Beat Horizon parties across the UK in January, with a huge lineup of hip-hop, drum & bass and more guaranteed to get you moving at the city's biggest club venue.
Bonafide legends of their respective scenes, Talib Kweli, Goldie and Roni Size are joined on the lineup by Sampa the Great, LTJ Bukem, Mala and many, many more for what's certain to be one of Motion's 2020 highlights.
Sofa Sound w/Lenzman, Bladerunner + more @ Trinity Centre | Friday 24 January
Sofa Sound are making their long-awaited return to Trinity Centre this month for a huge drum & bass party headlined by none other than celebrated Dutch producer and Metalheadz signee Lenzman.
The Bristol-based crew's first party of 2020 will also see Bladerunner, Critical Impact, DLR, Hollie-May and Raze Soundsystem take the stage during an unmissable night at one of our favourite Bristol venues.
HAAi Curates @ Motion | Saturday 25 January
HAAi enjoyed a stellar year in 2019, and she's taking her form into 2020 by curating an unmissable party at Motion on Saturday 25 January.
As well as firmly established acts including the Optimo duo, Peach and Roi Perez, Bristol-based DJ Manami appears on the lineup after joining HAAi during her recent Phonox residency.
Get Loose #2 @ Dare2Club | Saturday 25 January
Bruce's instant-classic Get Loose Party is back for the new year, running off the back of a successful debut in December and an August party that saw Hodge, Peverelist and Willow head to Alfred Street following the cancellation of Houghton Festival.
Expect good vibes and stellar sets in one of Bristol's most unique venues as Bruce takes over Dare2Club once again.
Semi Peppered w/Mozhgan & Solar @ The Island | Friday 31 January
Based between Bristol and Manchester, the Semi Peppered crew are continuing a rich vein of Westcountry parties in 2020 as they invite Iranian-born, California-based DJ Mozhgan and veteran American selector Solar to The Island.
Be prepared for a night of rigorous, forward-thinking dance music from two pillars of the US scene.
Distilled presents Mood II Swing @ Coroner's Court | Friday 31 January
Distilled are offering you a chance to peer into the golden era of dance music in this one, with none other than Mood II Swing bringing their other-worldly collection to the Coroner's Court on the last night of the month.
Boasting a discography bursting with certified classics including 'Move Me', 'Call Me' and 'Ohh', Mood II Swing will arrive in Bristol with a set guaranteed to fend off those January blues.
