The Bristol bad film connoisseurs will be hosting a special screening of the cult classic TRON on Tuesday 10 December.

Organised alongside The Cosmic Shed (named recently as one of The Guardian's favourite podcasts), TRON in the Planetarium will see one of the city's most unique attractions screen a genuinely genre-defining film.

Not only that, but Dr Pete Etchells, author of Lost in a Good Game, will be joining the organisers on the night to explore the wonder of film and deconstruct the news media's collective assertion that gaming is to blame for society's ills.

Starring Jeff Bridges and directed by Steven Lisberger, the 1982 hit film TRON follows the story of computer programmer Kevin as he's dragged into a virtual world to battle it out against a malevolent piece of software.

Hailed on its release as being years ahead of its time, TRON is widely regarded as one of the first iconic sci-fi films thanks to its pioneering use of CGI and visual effects.

Following the screening, The Cosmic Shed panel will be looking at the film's groundbreaking legacy as well as the use of innovative de-aging technology in the 2010 sequel.

TRON at the Planetarium is being run in aid of Special Effect, a charity aimed at helping disabled people get into gaming.

Tickets for the event, kicking off at 19:00 on Tuesday 10 December, are on sale now and can be found here.
