Shotgun Barbers lock down iconic Bristol venue for the return of Shotgun Sessions

Posted on: 05 Nov 2019

The Bristol barbers' popular open decks drum & bass nights are making a welcome return this month after a long search for a new venue.

Running two Bristol barbering spots on Bond Street and in Clifton, Shotgun Barbers offer trims with a twist. As well as being renowned for their hairdressing expertise, Shotgun's keen focus on music and penchant for drum & bass has earned them cult status on the city's flourishing underground scene.

Shotgun Sessions, Bristol.

Since 2017 Shotgun have been hosting Shotgun Sessions, a popular open decks night that offers up-and-coming local DJs to have a mix in a no-pressure setting. The team used to run the nights from their Bond Street HQ, but as their reputation grew so did the crowds, and it wasn't long before they had to find a more suitable venue.

Shotgun Sessions was a regular fixture in the Faraway Cocktail Club programme in late 2018 and the first few months of this year, until the venue was bought and turned into a sports bar. The search for a new venue started before the start of summer 2019, but has finally come to an end.

Shotgun Barbers' Basement Sessions, Bristol.

With a special guest headliner still TBA, Shotgun Sessions is making a long-awaited comeback on Wednesday 6 November. Going down at Basement 45 for the first time, the format has been tweaked slightly to allow for more music, more DJs and, crucially, more space for a growing crowd.

The Basement Sessions will be taking place across two rooms at Basement 45, with Shotgun residents holding down the main room and the open decks sessions housed in The Den. Entry to the launch night, running from 22:00 till 02:00, costs just £2 on the door.
