So, what is Roller Derby?

A fast-paced, contact sport played on a track by two teams on ‘quad’ roller skates; Roller Derby is an exciting combination of Rugby, American Football and of course, roller-blading.

A sport that great for cardio and fitness, as well as confidence-building, teamwork and communication skills, it’s no wonder that Roller Derby is one of Europe’s fastest-growing sports.

Sound good? Obviously. Head to Bristol Roller Derby’s free taster session at Merchants Academy in Withywood, 15:00 to 17:00.

There's no booking required for this friendly drop-in session. Just show up and let Bristol Roller Derby's skaters teach your kids the ropes.

If your child takes a shine to Roller Derby, they can take part in the club's weekly junior sessions every Sunday, 15:00 to 16:00. At £5 per session, it's a great way to keep the teens active.

A not-for-profit organisation, Bristol Roller Derby is entirely volunteer-led. Now nine years old, their teams compete in national competitions - even championships!

Head to their Facebook page to find out more. Find Merchants Academy: Gatehouse Ave, Bristol BS13 9AJ.
