Saturday 14 September: Bristol Blue Glass is hosting a pirate-themed Open Day

Posted on: 13 Sep 2019

Ahoy, me hearties! Want to create your own treasures as deep as the deep blue sea?

If so, then you’re in luck. Bristol’s dedicated glassmakers and traders, Bristol Blue Glass have got a sparkly charity fundraiser happening this weekend.

A glimpse of the Open Day in action

On Saturday 14 September, sail down Bath Road and visit the Bristol Blue Glass studio for a pirate-themed Open Day.

Catch free talks and demos, and try your hand at creating your very own Bristol Blue Glass deep-blue-bauble with discounted bauble-blowing workshops. All in fancy dress, of course!

Yep, that’s discounted bauble-blowing on Saturday: head down between 10:00 and 16:00 to try your hand at the historical trade for just £20. Or just talk, walk and dress like a pirate while you learn about the long-established glass-making tradition; and how the Blue Glass team reignited the trade here in Bristol three decades ago.

But what do pirates look for when they search for treasure? A glimpse of sparkle certainly helps. And that’s exactly what Bristol Blue Glass has added to their pirate extravaganza.

In aid of the Brain Tumour Support Charity, Bristol Blue Glass will be raising money to support their cause during the Open Day. Next week, the charity will be holding their very own Sparkle Day, so the Blue Glass team are kicking off the glittering celebrations a week early.

So, what are you waiting for? Get your best pirate glad rags on and head down to Bristol Blue Glass this Saturday in aid of a good cause. Remember your sparkles, too!

See the Facebook event for more details. Bristol Blue Glass is located: 357-359 Bath Road, Arnos Vale, Bristol, BS4 3EW
