Our guide to the very best 2019 UWE Freshers parties

Posted on: 04 Sep 2019

Freshers is undoubtedly one of the biggest party weeks on the UWE calendar - check out our rundown of the very best freshers' parties going on in Bristol this month and get your uni experience off to a flyer!

UWE Welcome Week 2019.

Friday 13th September // White T-Shirt Party @ The SU Bar, Frenchay Campus

Pretty self-explanatory, this one. Get yourself up to the Students' Union bar at UWE's Frenchay campus on Friday 13th September for the very first party of Freshers' Week 2019, make some friends, have a few drinks, ruin a brand-new white t-shirt and stumble home afterwards.

Saturday 14th September // Welcome Party @ The SU Bar, Frenchay Campus

The dress code is slightly more relaxed for UWE's official Welcome Party the following night, with the SU Bar once again opening its doors for a huge social for anyone who's able after the first night's antics. We'd say these SU parties are pretty essential for anyone living on-campus - you'll meet loads of people and there's no argument against making use of the cheap bar before you start going out in the city.

Motion Welcome Party // Sunday 15th September.

Sunday 15th September // Motion Welcome Party w/Chip, DJ Guv + more @ Motion

Anyone not familiar with Motion should be all over this one, with the club hosting a huge Sunday night welcome party featuring Chip, jump-up veteran DJ Guv, Bassboy, The Buckfast Boys Club, Dazed and an as-yet-unannounced Special Guest. Voted 3rd best club in the UK and 11th best in the world by DJ Mag last year, Motion is Bristol's biggest and most established club venue and an absolute must for anyone new to the city.

Monday 16th September // Bed Mondays @ Gravity

Ever wanted to party with Junglist legend Ali G? Well now's your chance... sort of. BED Mondays are bringing the Staines Lord of the Dance to Bristol's Gravity for a live Meet & Greet at their Freshers Party, accompanied by some jungle & garage classics, mega cheap drinks and even some free fried chicken at 2am on Stokes Croft. We're not convinced by that last bit but this will be a good party nonetheless.

Dazed Disco at The Love Inn and Crofters.

Tuesday 17th September // Dazed Disco @ The Love Inn & Crofters Rights

A perfect introduction to the unpredictable but unbeatable Stokes Croft atmosphere, Dazed Disco are bringing renowned Bristol DJs Cousn & Manami to The Love Inn and The Crofters Rights as part of Freshers' Week on Tuesday 17th September. Expect a disco masterclass and some questionable characters as you get a taste of two of the city's best small club venues.

Wednesday 18th September // ABBA Disco Wonderland @ SWX

Everyone loves a bit of ABBA, and the smash hit ABBA Disco Wonderland tour is returning to Bristol on Wednesday 18th September for night of disco classics, live performers and more at SWX in the city centre. Following on from a sold-out 2018 tour, the Disco Wonderland crew are taking things to dizzying new heights this time around with a full venue transformation, confetti and CO2 cannons and much more - don't miss it.

Thursday 18th September // Boombox @ Lakota

Featuring the very best rap, trap, R&B, grime and more, Boombox is back at Lakota to bring the energy to the multi-room venue once again. With the mighty Smoke Boys (formerly known as Section Boyz), Shaboom and Sheppz providing the vibes, this is certain to be one of the biggest parties of your first week in Bristol.

Ramshackle's Laser Rave // Friday 19th September.

Friday 19th September // Ramshackle Laser Rave @ O2 Academy Bristol

One of Bristol's most popular club nights, Ramshackle is a weekly Friday night destination for thousands of new and returning students and Bristol residents year in, year out. They're enlisting the services of lighting experts Vivid Lasers to turn the O2 Academy into a fully-fledged Laser Dome for one night only on Friday 19th September.

Saturday 20th September // Sun Up x Feel the Funk @ The SU Bar, Frenchay Campus

As the summer draws to an end, Sun Up & Feel The Funk will be delivering one more outdoor party to officially close your 2019 UWE Freshers Week. With a soundtrack spanning a wide range of genres including house, disco, funk & soul, UK Garage, UK funky, hip-hop, R&B and more, there'll be no better place to end Freshers on a high than the SU Bar at Frenchay on Saturday 20th September.

Tickets to all of the above events are available individually, or you can buy one of the last remaining UWE Welcome Week wristbands to gain access to every single one plus a huge selection of deals and discounts for food, transport, drinks and much more.
