“You’ve got to start somewhere.” “Get yourself out there.” “Make your own luck.”

Budding entertainers hear these words a lot, no doubt. Yet as cliché as they sound, this advice isn't mislead.

Open Mic Nights in Bristol

But how can would-be musicians, singers and comedians make their own luck? Open mic nights are a good place to start, and even better, Bristol is teeming with them.

From Gloucester Road to St George's, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite open mic nights in the city.

So, calling all budding comics, aspiring singer-songwriters and jam groups: pick a venue and get ready for the sign-up sheet race. Good luck! You can also aind a full list of Bristol’s open mic nights below.

Those brave enough to perform get a free drink, too! The venue has a PA system and some house instruments, but if you can, bring your own.

This Next Act
The Kingsdown Vaults | Every Sunday

This one is very in-keeping with the times. This Next Act is an open mic, new material night taking place every Sunday, 20:00 to 22:00. But it’s also a podcast!

Bringing together seasoned comedians and new faces, This Next Act is recorded each week to be released as a podcast. So, why not have a listen before you commit a Sunday evening?

Word of Mouth
The Lion | Every Tuesday

This is a new one. Started in July 2019, Word of Mouth brings together local musicians in BS5 for candle-lit performances and pizza. Head down from 19:30, every Tuesday.
