The Gryphon to celebrate its ninth birthday next month with three-day festival

The continued success of any Bristol venue is something worth celebrating, but next weekend we focus on one: The Gryphon.

The Gryphon: a Bristol pub with a focus on darker Real Ales

Between 13 and 16 September, Bristol’s longstanding Real Ale and metal pub, The Gryphon will celebrate its 9th birthday with their annual metal bash, Grpyhest. Let’s dive in.

Over the weekend, The Gryphon’s intimate upstairs stage will host acts from across the metal scene including London death metal bruisers Anoxide, party slammers Party Cannon and grindcore big-name Raised by Owls.

This jam-packed festival is pretty good value for money, too. Bag a weekend ticket for just £13.20 including booking fee or a day ticket for just £9!

But why are they celebrating? In 2010, what was formally known as The Griffin changed hands. While its name was switched to The Gryphon; the same, fine Real Ales and hardcore musical stance remained. Learn more about the pub here.

Celebrate the pub’s 148-year long history with a dark ale, homemade burger and some top-notch acts at Gryphest. Grab a ticket here. Quick, though: they're running low!

Find The Gryphon on Colston Street, open every day. Visit their Facebook page to see more events.
