It'd be stupid of us not to shine a light on the best of Bristol's bustling nightlife scene, and so with the Club Highlights series we'll be providing you with a monthly list of the best club nights in the city, taking into account some of the best-known acts and venues as well as some you might never have heard of. It's hard to look past Motion in August as the city's biggest club venue gets ready to host another string of ambitious events, from the 2019 edition of the much-loved Sequences Festival to a huge UK Garage Summer BBQ at the end of the month. Find all that and more in our rundown of August 2019 Club Highlights below.

Peachin' First Birthday // Saturday 3rd August

Peachin' Boat Party @ Bristol Harbour // Saturday 3rd August

Much-loved all-female crew Peachin' are celebrating their first birthday this month, and what better way to mark the occasion than with a three-hour voyage around Bristol's famous waterways? The prolific Bristol collective will be bringing their effortlessly fresh sound to the harbour from 6pm-9pm on Saturday 3rd August, with a soundtrack provided by some as-yet-unannounced Special Guests and Peachin' residents SafeSoul, Ella-Sian and Lexxi, spanning afrobeat, dancehall, throwback bangers, R&B, UK Garage and much more in between.

Ejeca @ The Loco Klub // Saturday 3rd August

Bristol-based party starters Der Liebe are back for their second event of the summer in early August, inviting none other than Northern Irish powerhouse Ejeca to the caves deep underneath Temple Meads Station for a headline set at The Loco Klub. One of the most exciting musical exports of an emerging scene in Belfast, Ejeca's consistently solid releases on esteemed labels like AUS and Moda Black have earned widespread recognition from his musical peers, not least fellow NI trailblazers Bicep. Now a firmly established name as an unstoppable purveyor of party-starting house and techno, he'll be joined in this one by Bristol-based DJ & producer Robots With No Soul and Der Liebe residents IRENE and Thorts Drift.

Sequences Festival 2019 at Motion // Saturday 17th August

Sequences 2019 @ Motion // Saturday 17th August

Bristol's favourite bass-heavy dance music festival is back in August for a 2019 edition bulging with some of the most exciting DJing talent from across the UK and beyond. Headliners DJ EZ, Headie One and Jaykae need no introduction, but backing them up across the all-day festival at Motion on Saturday 17th August are dnb heavyweights DJ Hazard, Halogenix, Mala and Kings of the Shadows, grime favourite P Money, a Mungo's HiFi DJ set featuring revered vocalist and long-time collaborator Eva Lazarus and much more across four areas. Tickets for this one are moving quickly and are already on their third release, so act fast and get yours now to avoid disappointment.

Musu 4th Birthday @ The Christmas Steps // Saturday 17th August

Celebrating four years of some of the most exciting and forward-thinking parties in Bristol, Musu have enlisted the services of DJ Maaco - a.k.a Detroit In Effect - to headline an all-day party in the Christmas Steps courtyard. A real force to be reckoned with on the decks and a prominent figure in his hometown of Detroit, Maaco's extensive back catalogue of releases stretches back to the mid-90s, all bearing his trademark brand of electro. With FREE entry to this one all day long, there's really no reason why you shouldn't be catching his first-ever Bristol appearance on a (hopefully) sunny Saturday afternoon.

Lock Yard x Bitch, Please! @ Motion // Friday 23rd August

We're approaching the end of the 2019 Lock Yard series at Motion, and what a season it's been. The club's organisers have got one more huge treat in store for you in August as they invite the Bitch, Please! crew to set up shop on the riverside terrace for an afternoon-evening of non-stop energy. Joining renowned BP residents ZenZero in this one will be Find Your Own Records boss Ceri - an exciting tastemaker who's shared a stage with the one and only Kerri Chandler in recent months - and 1020 and Balamii affiliate Aphelion, who'll be bringing his fast-paced selection of jacking and acid tracks along with him to ensure the party keeps going well into the night.

Madlib (DJ set), Kamaal Williams (live), Carista + more @ Motion // Saturday 24th August

One of the most exciting and eagerly-anticipated events on Motion's 2019 calendar comes this month as iconic hip-hop DJ and producer Madlib headlines a night of smooth grooves and soulful sounds that will also see acclaimed London musician Henry Wu perform a live set under his famed Kamaal Williams alias. With The Heliocentrics and Carista also appearing on the billing you can bet that we'll be situated front left for the duration, seeing out the summer in impeccable style.

Feel Flows w/Manami @ The Gallimaufry // Friday 30th August

The Gallimaufry's popular weekly DJ residency, Feel Flows, is back at the end of the month, with exciting Bristol selectors Manami and Neathway ready to provide the soundtrack. Taking place from 9pm till late on Friday 30th August, this one will see Noods and 1020 regular Manami team up with Feel Flows head Neathway for an evening of soul, jazz and laid-back electronica. One to consider if you're not one for a big party but want to check out some new music on a Friday evening.

UK Garage Summer BBQ @ Motion // Saturday 31st August

Nothing goes together quite like a hot sunny day and banging UK garage, and that's exactly what you'll get here as Motion bring their UKG Summer BBQ to their riverside terrace on Saturday 31st August. Acts announced so far include Sweet Female Attitude and Mind of a Dragon with more to be unveiled, and you can expect good vibes throughout as you watch the sun go down over the club and party into the evening. You can still bag a ticket for this one for less than a tenner all in, making it an absolute no-brainer if you're yet to make plans for the last day of the month.
