Six 'Colston Hall Presents’ shows you need to see

While the majority of Colston Hall remains out of action during its major renovations, their schedule is showing no signs of slowing down. Here are six unmissable shows coming up between August and December 2019. 


Terrace Sessions 2019: A Guy Called Gerald 
A Guy Called Gerald

Friday 30 August | Colston Hall | £5

Since the release of 1988’s ‘Voodoo Ray’, Gerald Simpson has rigorously dabbled in the likes of electro, hardcore techno and most recently, drum and bass. It only seems rights, then, that Gerald is welcomed to Terrace Sessions with open arms. 

 

David Allred
The Cell by David Allred

Friday 4 October | Colston Hall Foyer | £13 

Allred’s latest release, The Cell, conjures a distinct swirl of contemplative folk, string and experimental sound to the Erased Tapes label. Poetic motifs and reflective ballads, there’s no doubt the multi-instrumentalist will bring the house down this October. Get tickets here.

 

Deerhunter 
Deer hunter

Tuesday 5 November | SWX | £21.50

They’ve been around since the early 2000s, and they’re showing no sign of slowing down. Shoe-gazey psych-rock, the prolific Deerhunter put out a  record earlier this year which gauged critical acclaim from Pitchfork and The Guardian. Don’t miss them. Get tickets here.

Thursday 7 November | Fiddlers | £18

Following collaborations with the likes of Omar Souleyman and Israeli band A-WA, Parisian acid producers Minisky and Hervé Carvalho have created a serious name for themselves armed with their organic blend of electronic motifs and traditional Eastern instrumentation. Get tickets here.

Tuesday 26 November | Fiddlers | £17.50

KOKOKO!’s explosive, DIY protest music is making waves with its psych undertones and percussive drive. They’ll be performing cuts from their latest LP, Fongola, at Fiddlers. Get tickets here.
