Penny Brohn UK issues call for Bristol volunteers to support people living with cancer

Bristol cancer charity Penny Brohn UK is on the lookout for motivated and committed individuals to join their volunteering team in supporting people affected by cancer.

Penny Brohn UK volunteers are put in place to offer information and support to people dealing with the impact of cancer and inform them of the range of services offered by the charity, including details on what they are, how they can help and how they can be accessed.

Volunteers will be based at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre at the Royal Infirmary and will represent Penny Brohn at regular events held by the hospital as well as speaking to individuals before, during and after treatment. No previous experience is necessary and full training will be provided, although an understanding of holistic health and the NHS is welcomed.

Sarah Gottesman, Volunteers Manager at Penny Brohn UK, is overseeing the recruitment of new volunteers. “We rely on the commitment and enthusiasm of our amazing volunteers to support people living with cancer by providing holistic health and wellbeing support," she says. "To reach more people and help them live as well as possible, for as long as possible, we urgently need more volunteers to help us run this vital service for patients at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.”

With nearly 40 years’ experience, Penny Brohn UK recognises that people with cancer need more than medicine. Its Bristol Whole Life Approach provides integrated whole person cancer support that works alongside medical treatment to achieve the best health and wellbeing.
