Posted on: 10 May 2019

Yep, you read that right. The Redgrave Theatre in Clifton is on the lookout for a talented pooch to star in their 2019-20 Christmas pantomime! Could your furry companion be the one? Here’s everything you need to know.

It’s true. All the best pantomimes feature a furry friend; from Tommy the Cat in Dick Whittington to Daisy the Cow in Jack and the Beanstalk. This year, it’s time to find Beauty’s Beast a mini accomplice!

Is your dog destined for stardom? Audition them for the panto!

In preparation for their ever-popular panto season, The Redgrave Theatre in Clifton is on the hunt for an adorable, lively dog to perform in this year’s Beauty and the Beast. (Side note: this year, the season will be brought to you by the acclaimed Polka Dot Pantomimes theatre company – we can’t wait!)

The perfect pooch will be a lively character who has attended agility or obedience classes; a trusty companion for the Beast who can sit, roll, bark or just wow the Polka Dot gang with any other tricks that they might have. It’s the perfect opportunity for a local dog and owner to get involved in a fantastic production: certainly, it’ll be something for the showbiz doggie CV.

The role can be shared, but the winning pooches (and their trainers) must be available between 21 to 31 December 2019. The talented pair will be required for multiple performances a day, so beware: they must be ready for the showbiz lifestyle! Successful candidates will also be required for rehearsals before these dates.

So, what are you waiting for?! Here’s everything you need to know about those all-important auditions...

Auditions will take place Saturday 8 June 2019, 10:00 to 12:00 at The Redgrave Theatre. The Redgrave Theatre is located on Percival Road, Bristol, BS8 3LE. To book your audition slot, please call Polka Dot Pantomimes on 01775 712359. Find more information on their Twitter pageGood luck!
