Bristol Club Highlights - April 2019

Posted on: 04 Apr 2019

It'd be stupid of us not to shine a light on the best of Bristol's bustling nightlife scene, and so with the Club Highlights series we'll be providing you with a monthly list of the best club nights in the city, taking into account some of the best-known acts and venues as well as some you might never have heard of. April is set to be a huge month for techno in Bristol with Luca Lozano, DVS1, Bicep, Gideon and many more set to appear between now and the end of the month. Find all the info below.

Acrylic presents Kode9 at The Loco Klub on Friday 5th April.

Mr Partyline presents Luca Lozano, DJ Haus & Nightwave @ Secret Location, Friday 5th April

Just who is Mr Partyline? Until those Facebook ads appeared a couple weeks ago we had no idea, and now just two days before his first ever Bristol party, we're no closer to figuring it out. What we do know, however, is that a lineup consisting of hard-hitting German artist Luca Lozano, Rinse FM regular DJ Haus and Glaswegian Nightwave is sure to result in a debut to remember. Keep an eye on the Facebook listing or text Mr Partyline himself on 07418 314455 for the central Bristol venue announcement.

Kode9, Amy Becker, DJ Stolen and more @ The Loco Klub, Friday 5th April

The final show of London-based Acrylic's 2019 UK & Ireland tour will see them bring their renowned audiovisual party to the one-of-a-kind setting of The Loco Klub. Promising to "bring new technology to the Victorian-era tunnels to create a hyperrealistic dystopian environment", the event's head-spinning visuals will be soundtracked by none other than Hyperdub head honcho Kode9, Acrylic's own Amy Becker DJ Stolen and more. There are a few first release tickets left for this one at just £10 each so act now and book yours for an absolute steal price.

Perpetual presents DVS1 with Stephanie Sykes & Manni Dee @ Motion, Friday 12th April

The first event of the 2019 Perpetual series sees Berghain/Panorama Bar resident and all-round techno purist DVS1 head up a huge lineup for a typically heavy Friday night at Motion. The American artist's sets in Berlin and beyond have won him a loyal following worldwide, earning him slots at several established festivals this summer including Gottwood, Nachtdigital and Dimensions. He'll be supported on the night by no-nonsense techno DJ Stephanie Sykes, with Bristol label Strictly Yes taking control of room two all night long.

Wide Eyes' St Paul's Carnival Fundraiser at Lakota on Friday 12th April.

Wide Eyes St Paul's Carnival Fundraiser with Randall, DJ Storm and more @ Lakota, Friday 12th April

There's no debating the fact that St Paul's Carnival is a cultural staple of life in the Westcountry, so Bristol party starters Wide Eyes have joined forces with the organisers to put together a huge event at Lakota to raise funds for the 2019 party. Taking control of the tunes on the night will be Mac2 Recordings head honcho Randall, the 'First Lady of Drum n Bass' DJ Storm making her Wide Eyes debut, rising star Phaction and a slew of local artists, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the running costs of the 2019 St Paul's Carnival in July.

On Air presents: OC & Verde @ Basement 45, Saturday 13th April

All-conquering duo OC & Verde will be taking over Basement 45 this month for an extended four-hour set in Bristol as part of their 2019 Nocturnal UK tour. Purveyors of some of the finest house & techno on the scene right now, the pair have landed themselves on playlists and in sets around the world over the last couple years, earning tips from the likes of Pete Tong and scoring the number 1 spot on Beatport with their 2016 track 'Maasai'. Early bird and first release tickets flew out for this one so act now and bag one of the remaining second release tickets at just £10 each via the link above.

BIMM vs DBS Soundclash @ The Doghouse, Thursday 18th April

Expect a massive night of drum n bass, bassline and grime in this one as the unofficial BIMM vs DBS soundclash is back for another multi-genre faceoff! Taking place in The Doghouse for the first time, you'll find trippy visuals, huge tunes and top drinks deals as two of Bristol's most recognisable musical establishments go head to head to hype the crowd as much as possible.

Bitch, Please! at The Island on Friday 19th April.

Perpetual presents Bicep [DJ set], Kornel Kovacs & Em Williams @ Motion, Thursday 18th April SOLD OUT

Few names carry as much weight on the electronic music scene right now as Bicep, having released a critically acclaimed debut album and toured their expertly-curated live show at venues and festivals across the UK and beyond in 2018. The Belfast duo's own catalogue contains some of the most electrifying techno to come out of the last few years, but the Motion crowd will be given a rare glimpse of what's stored away in their record bags in this one as they play an extended three-hour set in the club's main room. With fast-rising artist Kornel Kovacs and Motion regular Em Williams providing the back-up, there's no doubt that this will be one of the biggest parties in Bristol this month.

Bitch, Please! with Gideon and Hannah Holland @ The Island, Friday 19th April

Bitch, Please! is finally back following a short break since their blockbuster New Year's Day party at Motion, bringing yet another huge lineup to Bristol for a party in The Island's police cells. Fronted by London-based DJ and NYC Downlow mainstay Gideon, the renowned Bristol party purveyors at Bitch, Please! have also enlisted the help of Hannah Holland, Motion resident James Dyer and ZenZero to produce one of the most vibrant lineups of the year so far.

Easter Mega Laser Rave @ Motion, Saturday 20th April

Easter Mega Laser Rave. How could any of those four words not appeal to you? Motion's latest free rave takes place this month and they've crafted an unforgettable night of mind-bending visuals and club bangers courtesy of some of the city's very best local artists. Entry for this one is - you guessed it - absolutely FREE on the door, but you can reserve a space via the link above for just £3.80 to guarantee entry if the queue gets too long.
