The Stranglers at the O2 Academy on Thursday 28th March 2019

Legendary punk band The Stranglers will be making a punk-style pit-stop to Bristol's O2 Academy on Thursday 28th March 2019.

Incontrovertibly one of the most influential bands of all time, their gig in the city is part of their new Back On The Tracks tour. They've been busy scribbling new material too, so you can expect a blistering performance of back-catalogue classics alongside a few lesser-known numbers, all curated from a history of incredible tuneage that has spanned more than forty years.

The Stranglers

Regarded as the longest surviving, continually successful band to have emerged from the UK punk scene, they've notched up 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 UK top 40 albums. Incomparable, irreplaceable rock 'n roll chef Keith Floyd was also a huge fan of the band, and the tracks Waltzinblack (an edited version of Peaches) and an instrumental version of Viva Vlad were used as the theme music for the majority of his TV cookery programmes.

Expect to hear the likes of Golden Brown, Walk on By, No More Heroes, Nice 'N' Sleazy, Hanging Around, Peaches, Skin Deep, Something Better Change, and All Day and All of the Night to fill the venue as well as few unexpected, little known songs.  From art rock to new wave and gothic rock and sophisti-pop, the group has incorporated a variety of musical stylings, making them utterly unique and timeless.

Doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost from £31.80 (including booking fee) and can be purchased here.

O2 Academy Bristol is located at Frogmore Street, Bristol, BS1 5NA.  Tel. 0117 927 9227
