Smoke & Mirrors finally hit #1 on Bristol TripAdvisor!
Posted on: 04 Mar 2019Bristol's favourite comedy and magic bar has overtaken The SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge to become the city's number one 'Thing To Do' on TripAdvisor. With a wide variety of shows taking place on a regular basis at the bar on Denmark Street, there's never been a better time to visit!
The small Theatre bar, formerly known as the Bunch of Grapes, has worked hard since its opening to show to showcase local comedy and magic talent, and this month it achieved its goal of being rated by its previous guests the number one thing to do in Bristol.
Their much-loved House Magicians Comedy & Magic Show is on every Friday & Saturday night with local entrepreneur Mark Bennett and his band of local and international guest magicians. The bar itself not only offers an intimate comedy magic show, but guests without tickets can still enjoy a mesmerising interaction with one of several walkaround magicians who'll perform specifically for them.
Speaking on the news that Smoke & Mirrors had become Bristol's number one attraction, owner Mark Bennett said “The concept we tried to achieve at Smoke & Mirrors has really paid off even though we are a small theatre pub offering the usual 10% for all Hippodrome and O2 guests. I originally thought 'why not make our own theatre here at the very well-known Bunch of Grapes', so I installed a theatre and gave it a Jazz style theme (minus the jazz) and renamed the pub SMOKE & MIRRORS.
"7 years on we've established A Bunch of Japes - a great Stand Up comedy night - which has seen many great comedians from Russel Kane to Alan Carr test new material. Of course, magic is still my passion, so The House Magicians Comedy & Magic Show was born and is one of our most successful events. Our great shows and the tireless work of our fantastic Front of House are what got us to NUMBER 1 on Trip Advisor, and we very much hope to stay there for years to come."
