The Downs Festival 2019.

No strangers to big bookings, festival connoisseurs Team Love have pulled out all the stops to bring yet another showstopping lineup to The Downs. Expect the very best in R&B, soul, UK hip-hop, punk, funk and more from the likes of Ms Lauryn HillGrace JonesLoyle CarnerIDLESNeneh CherryThe High Contrast BandNightmares On Wax and Crazy P.

A founding member of pioneering group The Fugees, Ms Lauryn Hill is one of the standout voices of the golden era of hip-hop. Her 1998 debut and to date only solo studio album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, was released following the group's split in the mid-90s and is still a standard-setter for the genre today having received widespread critical acclaim and several awards over the years.

Singer-songwriter, actress, model and all-round pop culture icon Grace Jones will also be taking the stage in August to showcase her legendary sound for a Bristol crowd, delving into disco, funk, pop, reggae and more to deliver a live experience like no other.

Homegrown Bristol group IDLES will be playing their biggest-ever show in the city at The Downs this year, and we certainly recommend catching them if you haven't already. Their stock has risen massively in the last year or two thanks to two well-received album releases in 2017 and 2018, and you get the feeling that there's still much more to come from the all-conquering punk outfit.

Celebrated London hip-hop artist Loyle Carner will be performing his second Bristol show in 2019, as will prolific electronic producer Nightmares On Wax, with renowned party collectives Crazy P and High Contrast also confirmed as well as Swedish singer-songwriter and stepdaughter of jazz icon Don Cherry, Neneh Cherry. With a blockbuster lineup already locked in and more acts still to be announced, this year's Downs Festival is certainly set to be one of the biggest yet!
