It operates nationwide in the cities of; Manchester, Edinburugh, Glasgow, Cardiff, London, Brighton and of course, our beloved city of Bristol.

Its mission is to help cats stay in the comfort of their home whilst their owner is away, and to enable those who like cat cuddles, to do so whilst getting paid.

Offering a mutually beneficial relationship, their website is designed so that you can choose to become a cat sitter or choose a cat sitter. It is also a great way to meet more ‘like-minded’ people in your area.

All cat sitters are fully insured, undergo all the checks and are required to write a full, personal profile. Cat owners are encouraged to meet the sitters beforehand to make sure the ‘boss’ approves of their choice.

Cat in a Flat was founded by Julie Barnes and Kathrin Burckhardt. Cat owners themselves, they often struggled to go on holiday and leave their cats behind when catteries are not desired and friends and family are unavailable to help.

So, they started creating a network where cat lovers would look after their cats, giving them peace of mind that they were not only being fed, but played with and getting plenty of belly-rubbing attention.

“Combining our passion for cats and creating digital platforms, we want to build a community based network that’s for all cat lovers whether they’re an owner, sitter or just love cats, everyone is welcome.”
