Tokyo World unveils massive line-up for two-day Bristol festival

Posted on: 01 Jun 2017

The folk behind the Bristol dance extravaganza has announced their plan to expand to a two-day festival, taking place in Eastville Park on the 23rd and 24th September – and have revealed the list of acts to populate it.

Tokyo World

Approximately 6,000 miles west of the Japanese capital, the lovely people at Tokyo World have been bringing people together through music since their first club night at Motion (then Tokyo Dub) nearly a decade ago. Graduating into festival form and then from Castle Park to its current home of Eastville Park during that time, the Bristol dance institution is all about innovation and growth.

As such, they have this year announced an expansion to two days’ worth of festival fun, which means dubble the music, dubble the mayhem and dubble the mania.

As such, they needed a line-up big (in both senses of the word) enough to justify the upgrade – and boy have they delivered, with bill of acts striking a fine balance between Bristol’s eclectic range of audio specialities.

Basement Jaxx

More accessible dance offerings can be found on the mainstage coming at ya from DJ sets by Basement Jaxx (above), Faithless, Jungle and Wilkinson, vying for ears against esteemed transatlantic rappers like Ghostface Killah, Wiley, Krept and Konan and Wretch 32.

Elsewhere there are some quality cuts of deep house courtesy of Âme (below), Butch, Mr G, Hot Since 82 and Kölsch, who plays back to back with Sasha. Techno-heads will be happy to hear that Recondite, Blawan and Ellen Allien all also feature.

There is also garage from Artful Dodger, dubstep from Madam X and more grime that you can shake a stick at, in the form of sets from Big Narstie, Ghetts, Novelist and Elf Kid.

Ame

Dub is, as you might expect, healthily represented, with the likes of Gentleman’s Dub Club, Gorgon Sound, Benny Page and Aba Shanti, the picks from a very big bunch.

In short, it looks like a banger.
