Bristol Business of the Week - Solutions Cleaning

When was Solutions Cleaning Ltd set up and can you give us a brief history?

Solutions was born in August of 2016 from a group of experienced and ambitious commercial cleaners. Our company director has successfully run and managed hospitality venues and understands the frustrations faced by publicans and business owners surrounding the cleaning and upkeep of their venues. Back in winter 2015 I set about changing the way cleaning services were provided to local hospitality companies. I joined a local cleaning company who provided cleaning to many pubs in Bristol and, secondly, I joined a nationwide company and was quickly promoted to Bristol’s Area Supervisor, specialising in gyms and the hospitality sector. Working both jobs, I set out on my journey to research and gain as much vital experience as possible, interacting with my clients and learning about their expectations and how to fulfil them.

Are you from Bristol?

Yes, I was born and raised in St Pauls, Bristol.

How’s business?

Coming up to our first year of trading we have some fantastic clients on board who appreciate our fresh-faced approach to cleaning and a team who have passion for the brand and its clients. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to the future of Solutions.

Do you cater for both domestic and business clients?

We only cater to commercial and business clients. We like to focus on what we do best and not spread ourselves to thinly. Unlike many of our competitors our sole focus is on building professional relationships with local businesses in Bristol and exceeding their expectations.

What is a client’s biggest frustration with cleaning service providers?

I found that poor management and false promises along with high staff turnover and unexplained cleaning bills were the biggest contributors to client negativity. I based my company’s ethos on providing a service the polar opposite to that.

You seem to be growing quickly, what’s the best way for prospective clients to get in touch?

We are growing at a steady speed, investing in our clients' sites and our team. To get in contact call 0117 318 0898 or go online to our website www.solutionscleaningltd.co.uk for an online cleaning quote.

Any more staff needed?

We are currently looking for an experienced full time cleaning supervisor with a driving license.

How do you find running an independent business in Bristol?

I’ve always aspired to run my own family business, being brought up in a city such as Bristol, that embraces everything local. Bristol has a strong community of locally run small businesses. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a city whose entrepreneurial spirit is forever thriving.

Where do you like to eat out in Bristol?

I’m a big fan of Ray’s Pizza at The Lanes and Head Chef Jordan Hardiman at The Urban Standard.

What's your favourite place in Bristol?

That’s a hard one, aghhh… Ashton Court, Bristol’s harbourside, anywhere I can spend quality time with my daughter. I’m a massive fan of Bristol’s long list of festivals. We literally celebrate everything that makes this city so diverse and open minded.

Where do you see Solutions Cleaning in 5 years’ time?

I see Solutions building upon our portfolio of clients, having grown a reputation for impeccable cleaning and customer service. We will be the small businesses' choice in cleaning provider.

What advice would you give to small business owners?

Invest in your staff and customers, keep your feet on the ground and always remember your company’s ethos. Remember that’s what sets you aside from your competitors.

If you were Mayor of Bristol for a day which one thing would you change?

The cost of public transport - I think the metro has been long overdue for quite some time now. I agree it’s exactly what this city needs, although the incentive to get people out of their cars and combat the city’s congestion is overshadowed by the ridiculous costs of public transport in this city...It should be lowered and subsidised by BCC, getting more people into the city centre, enjoying local businesses.
