Chris Rea at The Colston Hall in Bristol
Posted on: 15 Apr 2014Chris Rea is back three years after the last work Santo Spirito Blues, and he is set to return to the stage with 11 UK dates in the winter.
Chris Rea, the English-Italian legend of blues and jazz music, will be playing in Bristol on Tuesday 16th December at Colston Hall. This follows his 46 date sell-out UK & European tour back in 2012 and will be in support of a new album which will be released in September - the tour itself will start in Manchester on 1st December.
Besides his world wide successful songs like Josephine, Let’s Dance, Stainsby, and the million copies sold albums The Road to Hell, Auberge and Shamrock Diaries, just to mention a few of them, Chris Rea’s life is surely his best hit. Born in 1951 in Middlesbrough from a couple of Italian immigrant ice cream vendors, he started singing and playing guitar in the Seventies. He became famous in 1980 and mostly in 1983 and 1987, when his songs Let it Loose, I can hear your Heartbeat and Josephine were remixed. When, at the beginning of 2000, he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer he promised that if he could ride out the illness he would come back to his original roots: the blues. After winning his battle against cancer, Chris Rea returned to the stage, keeping his promise.
He has achieved considerable success with the independent albums ‘Dancing Down The Stony Road’ (2002),‘Blue Guitars’ (2005) released on his own Jazee Blue Label and ‘Santo Spirito Blues’ (2011) which was released on Warners.
