With the expense of Christmas just around the corner, we all need to tighten our belts a little. This can be difficult, especially with young children who will almost certainly want to go and see Father Christmas. Luckily, The Mall at Cribbs Causeway offers the ideal solution.

The Winter Wonderland, located just outside the main entrance to The Mall, is the perfect family attraction for the winter. The venue includes a magical ice castle, where children can meet the Ice Queen and Santa Claus; the largest outdoor ice rink in the south west; and a row of rustic log stalls offering various Christmassy snacks.

Tickets to see Santa are just £4 per child, which includes entrance to the Castle and a gift at the end. Upon entry, the Ice Queen will give you a tour of the beautifully decorated castle, leaving you to sit with Santa and have your picture taken. As an experienced Father Christmas visitor myself, having two much younger sisters, I would vouch for this one being the best value and the best all-round fun. The castle is exquisitely designed, the gifts are of surprising quality, and the man himself is everything you could imagine and more. This Yuletide treat won’t break the bank and will definitely bring a smile to your little one’s faces.

For older children and adults, the ice rink is a real slice of festive fun. Over 10002 metres of smooth ice, the rink is not only the biggest in the South West, but certainly one of the cheapest. Tickets can be pre-booked or bought on the day from just £4.50, sessions run for 45 minutes and young children can use special skating aides for £2 extra.

The overall atmosphere is one of cosy, heart-warming fun. With warm mulled wine and roasted chestnuts available throughout the day, and the beautiful Christmas lights situated inside the Mall itself, you can really make a day of it. Cheap, charming and cheerful- the Winter Wonderland has something for everyone.

Winter Wonderland is open everyday from now until 5 January except for Christmas Day and New Years Day.
