A great night for a great cause at The Stomp Project's post-COVID return.

The Stomp Project is a Bristol-based up-and-coming events label based in Bristol, with a mission to benefit the community through their events.

This was the first non-sit-down event they were able to hold since lockdown, with earlier attempts unfortunately being cancelled due to Covid-19 regulations.

They definitely came back with a bang, the night full of bright lasers and a diverse mix of music. The crowd was bought together by the mix of jungle, tempo and drum and bass pouring through their massive sound systems, making it the first night out of 2021 that really felt like pre-Covid times in both atmosphere and spirit. The line up was insane, and the crowd was dancing all night.

Coroner's Court was a perfect fit for the location, and the two rooms created the atmosphere of a mini festival, which was welcomed by the crowd after a year of following Covid regulations.

Felix Lisney, one of the labels co-founders, said this about The Stomp Project:

“The Stomp Project was originally born in March 2019 from an idea brewing out of a first year bedroom, As most successful business are.
A small handful of friends who shared the dream of building something new, to bring some fresh air into the somewhat saturated Bristol event scene.

"After a while of attending weekly nights out, we couldn’t help but notice a trend, as if your Saturday night had been copy and pasted to the next week and so forth. That there was something missing from the bulk of current music events.

"Something memorable and a bit different that the attendees can take away, but also some kind of purpose beyond trying to wipe the Monday to Friday graft from your memories. We also wanted to add a community element to it, the saturated student scene seemingly has no care for the city that allows it to happen. This is why we wanted a percentage of our profits from each night to go towards a community charity, to make a difference through dancing.

"With plenty of festival and free party experience under our belt we decided the only option was to take matters into our own hands and attempt to put on our first event which was basically just a small subterranean room full of our mates. Entirely funded from our student loans and calling in any favours with friends who DJ and owned any usable AV kit. (Believe it or not the student loan budget didn’t stretch very far).

"Since that fateful day, we have managed to raise just over £3000 for various local Bristol charities. All by doing what we love and bringing people from all over, together. Truthfully none us would have believed we’d still be doing this 2 and a half years later, and still continuing to grow exponentially beyond what we ever could have initially imagined.

We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us and seeing how far we can push our little bedroom idea!”

The event was a huge success, raising £1156 for North Bristol Foodbank. It also raised a further £500 for the ‘Arramuxa’ foundation, which has the intention of supporting the mental health of young adults.

It is exciting to think of what is next, and is definitely not a night to miss if you love a dance and a stomp.
