Saturday Night Fever is showing at the Bristol Hippodrome from 2nd-6th October. It’s a shame the show isn’t running for longer as it’s obviously very popular! If the show comes to an area near you then I’d highly recommend going to see it.

I had the pleasure of going to watch Saturday Night Fever last night at the Bristol Hippodrome. Although I do love going to The Hippodrome I actually hadn’t been in ages so was looking forward to it. I’ll be honest, although I had heard of Saturday Night Fever I wasn’t 100% sure of the whole story behind it – but I had let my Mum choose as I thought it would be a nice mother/daughter evening out for us. That being said, I’m sure almost everyone is familiar with the songs from “Saturday Night Fever.”

It’s obviously a popular musical as The Hippodrome was packed. Although the older generation were probably more familiar with the songs & show – The Hippodrome was full of people of a mixture of ages. It looked to me like a popular choice for a family night out.

The show started promptly at 7.30pm as the programme stated. Right from the start the audience was treated to the cast bursting into song and dance. There really wasn’t a dull moment during the show – as I don’t think there was ever a period of more than 5 minutes when the cast didn’t sing a song. But of course, they were songs that everyone knew, so could join in with them! The cast were great, and you could really tell they were giving their all in their performance. The main character who played Tony also particularly stood out to me – there’s no way I would have the energy to dance like that on stage - I could his sweat from my seat! I believe he was on casualty, so if you watch the show you might recognise him!

The first half flew by for me, and I definitely never got bored. In the interval we went to the piano bar for a drink. Service was quick at the bar & there was more than enough time to enjoy our drink. We even bumped in one of my friend’s in the interval, and another of her friends is attending the show later on this week! The show’s obviously very popular with the city of Bristol.

The second got underway & was equally as entertaining. The whole audience were singing & clapping along. The plot was easy to follow, and the end of the show saw the whole audience on their feet for the cast. With the cast ending with several encores.
