Live streams, guest mixes and fundraisers: Bristol promoters in lockdown

With venues closed, Bristol's favourite promoters are getting creative with their online output. 

 

Bristol's party scene is - rightly - renowned up and down the country thanks to its wide range of top-notch venues, an array of talented DJs and producers and, of course, a community of innovative and dedicated promoters.

 

With the ongoing coronavirus crisis keeping club doors closed for the foreseeable future, the city's top party starters have been forced to move their operations online. They've been hosting live streams, releasing guest mixes, raising money for charity and more.

 

Here we've picked out a few of our favourite projects, outlining what they've been up to in the last few weeks, where to find them online and how you can get involved during a challenging period for the events industry. 

 

Bitch, Please!

 

Usually a huge part of Bristol's events calendar, summer party maestros Bitch, Please! are combatting the isolation blues with a full month of lockdown live streams to raise money for Caring in Bristol.

 

Having already hosted sets from revered local DJs Ellie Stokes and Ellies Roberts, expect more good vibrations streaming live on the Bitch, Please! Facebook page until the end of May courtesy of Joshua James, Wes Baggaley, Manami and more.

 

 

Peachin'

 

Peachin' were gearing up for another busy summer before everything kicked off, having secured a slot at Love Saves The Day in May, booked a string of sets at some of the city's top venues and confirmed the return of their hugely popular August boat party.

 

Determined to keep you moving through the lockdown, Peachin' have put together a series of Spotify playlists as well as kicking off a dedicated mix series, with resident DJ SafeSoul spinning throwback R&B classics in the first entry.

 

 

Rotations

 

Bristol drum & bass newcomers Rotations have adopted a community approach to their online output during lockdown, inviting local producers to send in their music to be played and discussed in a weekly live stream series.

 

You can send any music you'd like featured via email ahead of a live broadcast every Thursday at 19:00 on the Rotations Facebook page, where residents will listen, discuss and give constructive feedback.

 

 

Alfresco Disco

 

With their events schedule at a standstill, Alfresco Disco have turned their attentions to their record label output, releasing local producer Kemback's eagerly-awaited Everything EP in early April.

 

Having received plaudits from the likes of Eats Everything, Dan Shake and Laurence Guy among others, Everything has been moving quickly and is in short supply. Listen here and get your hands on one of the few remaining copies on Bandcamp.

 

 

Booty Bass

 

All-conquering Bristol artist Ngaio has been hard at work spreading the love through her brand Booty Bass during lockdown, hosting quarantine live streams, recording solo and b2b sets and collaborating with an array of local DJs and labels.

 

Tune in to Dancing Room tonight (Friday 15 May) at 21:00 for three hours of upbeat tunes, good vibes and plenty of dancing courtesy of Ngaio and a selection of renowned Bristol-based artists. Der Liebe

 

Following on from what turned out to be an unforgettable farewell party at The Island in March just before the lockdown measures were introduced, Der Liebe have been working hard to raise funds and celebrate up-and-coming artists from across Bristol and beyond.

 

Their fortnightly Der Liebe Lockdown mix series has seen them broadcast sets from Tom Evo, Vanessa Lao and Antithet so far, raising vital funds for the Southmead Hospital Charity in the process.
