Bristol Pride is this weekend – here’s what you need to know

Posted on: 09 Jul 2024

Bristol’s very own LGBTQ+ Pride celebration takes place this weekend, with a staggering lineup of acts, events and afterparties. Here’s everything you need to know about when & where, how to get in, and what’s going on.

Happy Pride! While most of the world calls June ‘Pride Month’, Bristol keeps the love rolling into July for our Pride celebrations – in one of the biggest, most exciting Pride festivals around! Bristol Pride Day takes place this weekend, Saturday 13 July, on The Downs.

The festival is free to attend; everyone will be asked for a donation on the gates, but they are optional. That said, there are also some options for paid wristbands – both to help support Pride and make it happen, but also to earn yourself some nifty perks.

The wristbands start cheap at £9 for a Pride Day Supporter band, which earns you free travel, discounts on drinks & food, and a fast track queue to get in (as well as a few other minor perks). The most expensive wristband is the £45 Pride Super Supporter, which comes with all the other perks, an even quicker entry queue, free afterparty entry, a welcome drink and more.

The line-up this year is looking good, with four stages, a youth area and a family area. The headliners on the main stage this year are electronic pioneers The Human League, but it’ll also feature STEPS’ Claire Richards, indie-pop sensation Georgia, and duo Ladytron.

The Uplift stage features a takeover from queer collective Punka & drag king collective Brizzle Boyz, with performances from bands like pastel goth-pop duo Bled & DIY intersectional queer punks The Menstrual Cramps, and performances by countless Kings, including Gender Criminal, Oliver Assets, & Small Willy Nelson.

The Cabaret stage will see a similar buffet of drag queens, including a lot of local favourites like Jersey The Devil, BooHoo Mann, & two-time Bath Drag Artist of the Year winner Diomede. The stage will also see a mix of other acts – like singer-producer RED and DJ Pom Pom’s Playhaus.

Finally, the Dance Performance Stage will host – what else – dance, with performances from Zumba to Street Dance, and workshops like Carnival Fitness & the Drag Queen Workout.

As mentioned, Pride is this Saturday (July 13) on The Downs. For more information, or to get a wristband, head to their website.
