Levy grew up in a community heavily influenced by reggae music and black culture and from an early age, instilling in him a love and respect for rebel music.
The artist's second album Wickeder General was voted best reggae album for 1992. The album track ‘Heat’ was voted best single and General himself was voted best reggae DJ/MC by the British reggae industry in which Levy was presented with three gold awards in one night at the London Hippodrome.
