The Slackers, who originated in the year of 1991 in NYC, are all set to perform at The Fleece in Bristol on 16th November 2016. The band released its first album in the year 1996, “Better Late Than Never”. The bands success was owed to years of local gigs and rehearsing in a basement in Manhattan. After this there was no looking back for the band. They recorded:

12 studio albums:

Redlight, The Question, Wasted Days, The Slackers and Friends, Close My Eyes, An Afternoon in Dub, Slackness, Peculiar, The Boss Harmony Sessions, Self Medication, The Great Rocksteady Swindle, The Radio

3 live albums:

Live at Ernesto's, Upsettin' Ernesto's, Slack in Japan

The Slackers are autonomously grooved gurus of Reggae, Ska and Rock n Roll.

They have played over 46 American states, 7 Canadian provinces, 22 European countries, 5 Latin American Countries and 2 Asian Countries. They have performed 100 shows every year.

The music of the band is unique in its own way and contradistinctive from their breed. Theirs is a mix of early Jamaican music with classic 50s and 60’s Rock n Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and Latin music.

The Slackers have successfully used the annihilation of record companies in the previous 5 years to raise funds for the release of their latest album The Slackers [Self-Titled] in February 2016.

The term “Jamaican Rock n Roll” was coined by Singer Vic Ruggiero for the music played by the band and said that “The band might play a classic Jamaican style but the vocals are distinctly American east coast, revealing the obvious connection of Jamaican music to the Doo Wop of Harlem and The Bronx.
