The 2021 St Pauls Carnival takes place on Saturday 3rd July 2021 with activities throughout the whole of St Pauls.

Last year it had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 so let's hope it will be another scorcher as 100,000 or so people descend on one of the most famous areas of Bristol to celebrate Afro-Caribbean culture, with lots of food, drink and dance.

Keep up to date with the St Pauls Carnival Facebook event.

St Pauls Carnival 2019

The 2021 theme is still to be announced.

The 2019 theme was "Our Journey" chosen in response to the well documented journey of the Windrush generation who arrived in England from the 1940s onwards to pay homage to the generation who came together in Bristol and set up organisations and groups to support their new lives in the UK.

The event will chart the challenges faced by the Windrush generation from the 1940s to the present day and will chart the historic significance of the SS Empire Windrush, which marked the beginning of the post war mass migration after an invitation by the Queen to journey to the UK. The theme will reflect the subsequent challenges faced including racism and inequality leading to the Bristol bus boycott and subsequent valuable contribution to the city from Caribbean music, food, tradition, skills and dance which led to the founding of the St Pauls Carnival - a way to express and celebrate roots and culture and a way to break down racial barriers across the wider Bristol community.

The 2021 carnival will build on over 50 years of celebrations which has more recently seen the carnival committee prioritise inclusivity and community engagement and successfully dispel the negative preconceptions built up over previous years.
