Royal Marines Band Christmas Concert at Colston Hall Bristol on 3 December 2017

Royal Marines Band Christmas Concert will perform at The Colston Hall in Bristol on Sunday 3 December 2017.

This December, join the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Commando Training Centre Lympstone and Seafarers UK for a sparkling centenary celebration. With the beautiful Colston Hall stage as backdrop, this special evening of musical entertainment will feature well-loved, rousing tunes, performed by the men and women of this world-class Marines band. The night will raise money for leading maritime charity Seafarers UK who have supported those in need since 1917.

Famed throughout the world for their immaculate appearance, drill and musicianship, the bandsmen and women of the five Royal Marine bands combine military precision and discipline with an artistic interpretation that places them in the top level of musical ensembles. The original Royal Marines Band Service, together with its headquarters, the Royal Naval School of Music, was founded in 1903 to provide Bands for the Royal Navy. Most of its musicians, except solo specialists, are required to attain an acceptable standard on both a string and a wind instrument. As a result Royal Marines musicians are regarded as one of the most versatile in the military musical world.

In addition to music making, musicians and buglers are trained for a dedicated military role within the Royal Marines. In the past 100 years, and during virtually every major conflict, members of the Royal Marines Band Service have temporarily set aside their musical instruments in order to carry out their operational military duties. However, they take their musical instruments with them and perform at various ceremonial parades including repatriations, and morale-boosting musical entertainment for the deployed troops.

Tickets are £15.05 to £21.50 including booking fees.
