Bristol’s O2 Academy is set to host a night of pure West Coast hip-hop history on Sunday 19 October 2025, as The Pharcyde and Souls of Mischief join forces for a double-header celebrating two of the genre’s most influential albums.

The Pharcyde arrive in the city as part of their Labcabincalifornia 30th Anniversary Tour. Originally released in 1995, the album showcased a more introspective and jazz-infused side to the group, with production from the late J Dilla shaping timeless cuts like “Drop” and “Runnin’.” While not as commercially immediate as their debut, Labcabincalifornia has grown into a cult classic, its laid-back lyricism and creative beats inspiring generations of artists.

Meanwhile, Oakland’s Souls of Mischief will mark 30 years of their groundbreaking debut 93 ’Til Infinity—a record that blended intricate lyricism with laid-back funk production to redefine what West Coast rap could sound like. The title track remains a hip-hop anthem, instantly recognisable from its jazz-loop intro and deft wordplay.

A Double Dose of Hip-Hop Legacy

The joint Bristol date will see both albums performed in full, offering fans an immersive trip back to the ’90s—an era when innovative production, complex rhyme schemes, and a sense of play defined underground hip-hop. The Pharcyde’s playful stage chemistry and surreal humour will contrast beautifully with Souls of Mischief’s tightly woven, rapid-fire flows.

The show comes as part of a wider run of anniversary celebrations:

The Pharcyde will hit Reykjavík’s Gamla Bíó (28 May), Amsterdam’s Paradiso (3 June), Geneva’s L’Usine (date TBC), and Berlin’s Astra Kulturhaus (14 October) before touching down in the UK. A special Los Angeles performance at The Ford (18 July) will feature a live band and an all-star guest lineup including Pharoahe Monch, Tha Liks, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Blu & Exile, with Ras Kass, DJ Nu-Mark, and MC Supernatural hosting.

Souls of Mischief continue their 93 ’Til Infinity 30th Anniversary World Tour, which began in 2023 and has spanned over 90 shows worldwide, cementing their reputation as one of the most consistent live acts in hip-hop.

Bristol’s Moment in the Spotlight

For local fans, the 19 October show offers a rare chance to witness two pioneering acts share one stage, performing their landmark records in full. With both albums standing as milestones in hip-hop’s evolution, the night promises not just nostalgia, but a living celebration of artistry that continues to influence today’s music.

Tickets for the Bristol O2 Academy date are expected to be in high demand, as hip-hop devotees from across the UK make the pilgrimage to see these two legendary crews in their element. Get tickets here.
