The experimental hip hop star JPEGMAFIA embarks on his LAY DOWN MY LIFE tour!

JPEGMAFIA – known affectionately as Peggy – is a New Yorker but spent much of his childhood bouncing from place to place due to rough circumstances at home, eventually relocating in his mid-teens to deep south Alabama where he faced racism head-on.

Following high school, JPEG joined the US military and was deployed all over the world before being sent to the Iraq War. Once stating “I started rapping because no one liked my beats”, his eclectic life added new elements to Peggy’s producing and rapping repertoire.

He approaches his craft alone, writing, recording, producing mixing and mastering all of his own music. Now based in LA, JPEGMAFIA has forged his own dark sound that incorporates humour to make things even more uncomfortable. His role as villain or satirist, hood protector or nihilist is intentionally hard to put one’s finger on.

Peggy’s eclectic influences include his hero Kanye West, alongside Hanson, MF DOOM, Björk, Radiohead, Arca and more. After a slew of tape releases, he first saw widespread love for his debut album, Veteran (2018) and follow-up All My Heroes Are Cornballs, and has continued with a series of 2020 EPs alongside last year’s Scaring The Hoes.
