Jon Gomm At Thekla

Jon Gomm is on at Thekla Thursday 21st October, from 7pm.

Yorkshire based Jon Gomm, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, using one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines & twisting melodies all at the same time, the emphasis still on the soulful vocals and songwriting. His original music influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead. His shows are deeply personal, emotive performances with an unforgettable physical & complex two-handed guitar style, producing sounds barely believable from an acoustic guitar.

At four he learnt to play the guitar, wrote his first song at six and accompanied his father, a music critic, to gigs. Artists often stayed at the Gomm house on the condition Jon would get a guitar lesson, leading to personal tuition from legends like BB King and Jack Bruce (Cream).

In January 2012 his song Passionflower went viral, national TV appearances in the UK, Portugal, Holland, Brazil and Turkey followed. A fiercely independent artist, with his own label & no mainstream industry support, using social media networks for promotion, he has defied the odds with a huge fanbase resulting in headline tours on all 5 continents. His debut CD Hypertension has sold over 50,000 copies, and his second CD Don’t Panic sold out within 3 days, videos watched thousands of times within minutes of appearing online, 17 million times in the case of 2012’s “Passionflower”. May 2020 saw Jon join forces with another true independent, Kscope Music, with new music and shows to come.
