Joanne Shaw Taylor will perform at Colston Hall in Bristol on Tuesday 14 November 2017.
Hailing from the Black Country, guitarist and vocalist Joanne Shaw Taylor has established herself at the pinnacle of Britain’s blues rock scene. Defying stereotypes of her age and gender, she has won fans around the world – even among the notoriously impenetrable USA blues rock crowd. With several critically acclaimed albums under her belt, it’s little surprise that her musicianship has earned her a clutch of high profile admirers including Joe Bonamassa, Wilko Johnson and John Mayall during her fruitful career so far.
British blues rock guitarist and vocalist Joanne Shaw Taylor first found exposure at the age of 16, after Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart discovered her playing and invited her to join his supergroup, D.U.P. Since then, she has recorded six albums to widespread acclaim. Her fourth studio album, ‘The Dirty Truth’ (2014) was recorded in Memphis with producer Jim Gaines, and released on her independent label Axehouse Records. In 2016, she released ‘Wild’, which was recorded in Nashville’s Grand Victor Studios with producer Kevin Shirley. She has twice won Best Female Vocalist at the British Blues Awards, where she also won Songwriter of the Year in 2011.
