Jazz nights every Friday in Bristol
The Bear Inn Hotwells, Bristol hosts a weekly Jazz night every Friday with the Be-Bop Jazz Club. Different artists play each week and on Friday 9th September 2016 you'll be entertained by The Jazz Defenders.
This should be a fantastic start to the new Be Bop Jazz Club new season. The Jazz Defenders were formed by pianist George Cooper to reflect his love of Blue Note era jazz and artists such as Horace Silver and The Jazz Messengers. The music however is entirely original, with all the band members contributing or co-writing the tunes. Since these guys really know the idiom the result is a triumph, it’s like discovering some great Blue Note album in the vaults that for some reason never got released. This band is really creating a buzz, and their gig at Future Inn at the start of August had the most other players in the audience seen for quite a while, which is always a good sign. George Cooper - piano, Nick Malcolm - trumpet, Nick Dover - tenor sax, Will Harris - bass and Matt Brown - drums.
Tickets are £8 The Bear will be selling tickets from the pub in advance for this gig to ensure their regular supporters can get a seat.
