After a poor start to the season - partly down to a points deduction - Reading are showing signs of life, with City sitting not too far above them in the table Nigel Pearson will be hoping to put the visitors in their place. The reverse fixture at the beginning of the season saw an epic 3-2 win for The Robins with an Andi Weimann brace and a goal from Chris Martin enough to see off the hosts despite a late goal from ex-City defender Liam Moore making things nervy.
Both fixtures in 2020/21 ended in defeat for The Robins in a season to forget for the South Bristol side. The match at The Madejski finished 3-1 with all the goals coming in the second half. Ejaria scored early in the second half to put the home side in the lead and Nakhi Wells grabbed an equaliser soon after, however, it was not to be for The Robins and Meite and Lucas João scored late on to condemn Dean Holden's side to defeat. João haunted City once more in the fixture at Ashton Gate with Michael Morrison scoring the other in an easy 2-0 win.
