Nigel Pearson's men begin the month of March with a visit from the Blues

Catch Bristol City v Birmingham City at Ashton Gate Stadium in this EFL Championship fixture on 5 March 2022. Kickoff is at 15:00PM.

This Sky Bet Championship fixture sees two struggling teams meet in a battle to see who can finish the closest to mid table obscurity and rise further away from relegation trouble. Lee Bowyer's side have been struggling of late but have had a few miniscule boosts recently in the shape of 16-year-old debutant Jobe Bellingham (brother of Borrusia Dortmund and England ace Jude) and new signings Onel Hernandez and Taylor Richards.

The previous two meetings between the two sides, both away from home, have seen mirrored results for the Robins. When the Blues hosted the City at the beginning of November, Nigel Pearson's men found themselves at the wrong end of a 3-0 thrashing (goals from Riley McGree, Scott Hogan and Gary Gardner) with Zak Vyner having a particularly torrid time up against Troy Deeney - something that was horribly echoed in the 6-2 defeat to Fulham when placed in the middle of a back 3.

March 2021 saw the opposite result when City visited St Andrews under newly appointed Nigel Pearson. Kasey Palmer (now all but frozen out of the side), Antoine Semenyo (coming into his own this season) and Callum O'Dowda scored the goals in this one and Pearson will be hoping for much of the same in this game at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City Football Club - The Robins

Bristol City Football Club, nicknamed ‘The Robins’, are currently playing their football in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Their home ground is Ashton Gate Stadium and has recently been rebuilt, giving it a capacity of 27,000.

City go into the 2021/22 season under new manager Nigel Pearson aiming to improve on last season's disappointing 19th place finish that saw them tumble towards the relegation zone. The Robins have had a mixed start to the season and currently sit comfortably mid table. Pearson appears to have given the team a far more solid spine thanks to the signings of ex-Leicester midfielder Matty James and exciting young ball playing centre back Rob Atkinson.

BRISTOL CITY FOOTBALL CLUB HISTORY

Founded in 1897, the club achieved their highest league finish of Division One runners up in 1907 and two years later played in their only major cup final, losing 1-0 to Manchester United in the FA Cup. The club last played in the top-flight of English football from 1976 to 1980.

The 2006-07 season saw the club win promotion to the Football League Championship after finishing second in League One. The following season Bristol City narrowly missed out on Premier League football losing to Hull City in the Championship play-off Final. Having been relegated back to League One after the 2012-2013 season when they finished bottom of the table they were promoted back to The Championship in 2015 and have maintained their second tier status ever since.

The clubs honours include twice being winners of Football League Trophy in 1986 and 2003, the 1934 Welsh Cup and the 1978 Anglo-Scottish Cup when they defeated St. Mirren.
