A vibrant hub where people can shop, create and explore what a greener future can look like.
Sparks Bristol is a pioneering department store reimagined for community, creativity and positive change. Co-created by Global Goals Centre and Artspace Lifespace, it transforms an empty high-street building into a vibrant hub with a dual purpose. On the ground floor, visitors discover an eclectic mix of sustainable shops, immersive installations, educational displays and lively events. Above, the space evolves into a haven for Bristol’s creative community, offering affordable artist studios, rehearsal rooms, desk spaces and performance venues.

Sparks exists to make climate action, equality and wellbeing accessible to everyone. Every element of the project is designed to help people take simple, cost-effective steps inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, it responds to the urgent need for affordable creative space in the city, supporting artists while offering young people engaging opportunities to learn about real-world issues such as the climate crisis and social inequality.

Its long-term vision is bold: to prove that unused high-street buildings can become dynamic centres for sustainability, creativity and community action. As a world-first pilot, Sparks contributes directly to major city initiatives including Bristol City of Sanctuary, Bristol Climate Action, the Bristol Equality Charter and Bristol Nature Recovery. With event spaces, studios and retail units available, Sparks invites everyone to explore, create and connect.
