Bristol Rovers 2018/19 fixture list revealed: what does it say about Rovers' promotion chances this season?

Posted on: 06 Jul 2018

Following a mediocre 2017/18 season which saw them finish thirteenth in League One, Bristol Rovers will be looking to make a push towards the top of the table this time around and (hopefully) break into the race for the playoff places. See below for a full rundown of this season's fixtures.

Tickets for the 2018/19 season are on sale now.

Rovers' first game of the new season sees them travel to Peterborough United for an away fixture on the opening weekend, with the match taking place on Saturday 4th August. Peterborough are largely in the same boat as Bristol this season in that they were underwhelming last time out but will be looking to crack to top few places in the table in this campaign, meaning that three points from this fixture would be a great way to start the season for either team.

The following week, The Memorial Stadium will see its first league action of the 2018/19 season as Rovers host Accrington Stanley on Saturday 11th August. This match will be followed by another home fixture against Crawley Town, this time in the first round of the Carabao Cup in the week commencing 13th August.

Rovers' festive period sees them head to Walsall on Boxing Day for the second year in a row, before hosting recently-relegated Burton Albion on New Year's Day, a side who will surely be looking to bounce straight back up to the Championship following their poor season last year.

In what will undoubtedly be a crucial period for Rovers towards the end of the season, clashes against Coventry City, Brandford City, Wimbledon, Rochdale and Fleetwood Town in April could decide whether or not The Gas can clinch their desired league position, whether's it's an automatic promotion spot, a playoff place or - god forbid - avoiding relegation. They end their season with a home fixture against Barnsley on Saturday 4th May. See below for the full 2018/19 fixture list:
