Avon and Somerset Police announce the return of Emergency Services Open Day in September 2018

Posted on: 03 Jul 2018

Always a hit with locals of all ages, Avon and Somerset Police have today announced that the doors of their Portishead Police and Fire HQ will be open to the public on Sunday 16th September 2018 for the annual Emergency Services Open Day. Tickets for the event are expected to be snapped up quickly - the first batch goes on sale at 10am on Friday 6th July so act fast to avoid missing out!

Last year's show was a huge success despite stages of bad weather.

The popular open event showcases the vital work carried out by our emergency services working across Avon and Somerset, with representatives from Avon & Somerset Constabulary, Avon Fire & Rescue, HM Coastguard, British Red Cross, RNLI, Mountain Rescue and Wessex 4x4 all in attendance on the day.

Visitors can enjoy a fun-filled and action-packed day with a great range of displays from Avon and Somerset's Police Dog, a Mounted and Firearms demonstration, Car Cutting, Animal Rescue demonstrations and much more. Not only that, but members of the public will also be able to get some great insight into those who volunteer for community organisations like Specials, Cadets and Neighbourhood Watch.

As well as the main attractions for people of all ages, there will also be plenty for younger visitors to see and do on the site, with a treasure hunt challenge and an opportunity to work alongside the Major Crime Team and become a 'young detective' for the day!

A full programme of events will be released over the course of the next couple of months, and of course there will be a great range of food stalls and picnic areas available to visitors.

Please be aware that the Emergency Services Open Day is a fully ticketed event. Tickets are FREE but must be booked prior to the date, with the first batch going on sale at 10AM on FRIDAY 6TH JULY.
