Bristol Dementia Action Alliance set to celebrate 5th birthday at The Galleries on Monday 9th July

Posted on: 23 Jun 2018

Local charity Bristol Dementia Action Alliance has unveiled plans to hold a huge event in recognition of its 5th birthday, due to take place at Bristol's Galleries Shopping Centre on Monday 9th July from 11am-3pm.

BDAA are all set to celebrate their 5th birthday at The Galleries this year.

The party, which will take place on the bottom floor of the shopping centre, will see organisers celebrating their milestone and thanking members of the public for their fantastic support over the years. Expect food, cake, music, dancing, party bags, ping pong and lots more!

There will also be staff on hand at the event to discuss Dementia, provide information on the illness including how you can live well with it, and give detailed accounts of the very latest research into Dementia.

An estimated 850,000 people in the UK are living with the condition today, a number which is expected to rise significantly in coming years. BDAA is part of a collective of similar groups around the country, working towards increasing awareness of Dementia and helping sufferers deal with the illness.

Chair Tony Hall who set up the charity 5 years ago, says: “It doesn’t seem like we’ve been running for five years. We will be celebrating this fact by having a street party and will be welcoming many people living with dementia and their families and friends and all those people who have encouraged and supported us over the years.

We extend the invitation to anyone who may not know about BDAA but who might like to learn more about the condition or become a volunteer! Come and celebrate with us and let’s work together to make Bristol THE Dementia Friendly City of the UK”.
