This Summer at The Volunteer Tavern in Bristol

Posted on: 19 Jun 2018

The Volunteer Tavern is one of the most interesting venues in the city of Bristol without a doubt. Situated nearby Cabot Circus, it is a place close yet distant from the bright, commercial shopping district because it is an independent, community space that thrives on its own uniqueness.

The Volunteer Tavern is a historic 17th-century bar and also has a lovely beer garden that is heated in winter. Offering a fantastic selection of ales, other drinks and food, with pop-ups regularly changing, it is one of our favourite spots to grab some munch, a pint or two or for a night out! It’s the sort of place that is rustic, charming and slightly hidden, but is all the more atmospheric for it- tucked away amongst the bustle of Cabot Circus and Old Market.

The regular events to look out for are:

Open Mic every Monday and bring your own food!

Open Mic Night at The Volunteer Tavern Bristol

Every Monday, everybody is welcome to showcase their talents, be it poetry, music or even dance! No matter what level or how experimental a piece maybe, the platform is there to have fun with.

Customers are also welcome to take their own grub, which is super rare of a pub to allow. We doubt you’ll find anywhere in the city that rivals this!

Live music every weekend

Saturday Sessions and Sunday Funday

Every Saturday the infamous Saturday Sessions take place, with live music on. Be it a DJ set or a live band, there is always a variety of sounds and talents playing. Keep an eye out for the Sunday Funday parties too , every week,  as they are always a good time, and let’s be real- who doesn’t love a day party!
