Get ready to ‘Move It, Move It'! Madagascar - The Musical is coming to Bristol Hippodrome from the 9th to the 13th October 2018 as part of its upcoming UK Tour. Kicking off with an opening at the New Wimbledon Theatre in London at the end of July, the play will bring everyone’s favourite jungle adventure to life, this time with added musical numbers!

The musical will be based on the 2005 DreamWorks animated motion picture. Alex the Lion undertakes a spontaneous adventure along with friends Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo when they make a break for freedom from their pampered life in Central Park Zoo. Helped in their escape by a group of plotting penguins, the friends end up stranded in Madagascar and get a real taste of the wild when they run into King Julien XIII the ring-tailed lemur.

The cast of the show has just been announced, with Alex to be played by 2006 X Factor winner Matt Terry. Matt has had a busy few years since winning the TV Show, from releasing his debut album ‘Trouble’ to featuring on Enrique Iglesias’s hit single Subeme La Radio, and working with Ed Sheeran on holiday tune When Christmas Comes Around

 

Matt says; ‘I am so excited to be making my acting debut in the brand-new production, Madagascar – The Musical. It’s a childhood memory for all of us! I can’t wait to be playing the lead role of Alex and bringing him to life. Expect incredible costume, set and cast. And the music is immense! It will be an awesome night for everyone to enjoy. See you all there.’

 

Also starring in the jungle cast will be Antoine Murray-Straughan,Timmika Ramsay, Jamie Lee-Morgan, Shane McDaid, Laura Johnson, Jessica Niles, Victoria Boden, Matthew Pennington and Darren John.

The tour is brought to you by Selladoor Family, the producers behind James And The Giant Peach, Seussical and The Owl And The Pussycat and Hartshorn – Hook, producers of the Olivier Award winning Rotterdam, Murder Ballad, Urinetown and American Idiot. It will be directed by Kirk Jameson with choreography by Fabian Aloise.
